Çanakkale is a city in Southern Marmara Region in Turkey. It stands at the outlet of the Dardanelles, the straits between European and Asian Turkey, and has been a travel hub in peace and war since antiquity. With a population in 2014 of 186,116, it has a student buzz thanks to ÇOMÜ, the Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University.

Çanakkale, formerly Dardanellia (Greek: Δαρδανέλλια), is a city and seaport in Turkey in Çanakkale Province on the southern coast of the Dardanelles at their narrowest point. The population of the city is 186,116 (2014 estimate).Çanakkale is the nearest major urban center to the ancient city of Troy, which (together with the ancient region of the Troad) is located inside Çanakkale Province. The wooden horse from the 2004 movie Troy is exhibited on the seafront.
