Kōchi (高知), known in ancient times as Tosa (土佐), is the eponymous capital of Kochi prefecture on the Japanese island of Shikoku. Kōchi (高知市, Kōchi-shi) is the capital city of Kōchi Prefecture located on the island of Shikoku in Japan. Kōchi is the main city of the prefecture with over 40% of its population.
