Ulaangom is the capital of the Uvs province. It is near Uvs Lake, a large saltwater lake with the largest surface area in Mongolia. Ulaangom (Oirat: Уланһом) is the capital of Uvs Province in Mongolia. It is located on the slopes of the Kharkhiraa mountain, 26 kilometers (16 mi) southwest of the lake Uvs Nuur shore and 120 kilometers or 70 miles south of the Russian border.
